Family Album // Vegas
Sometimes, I have to stare at my pictures for a while before some kind of inspiration strikes me. But this pocket page spread about our quick trip to Vegas actually came together pretty easily. I've been looking for a week that would be a good fit for some of my Push Print Studio cards. (I feel like I have to be doing something cool enough to justify their cool designs.) Push Print designs printable cards and papers and each of the collections is super cute. This trip was also perfect for a few of my Kellie Stamps sets, Like a Girl, Love Your Body, and Nuts About Food.
We try to go to Vegas once a year, usually in December around our anniversary. At the end of last year, we canceled our trip when Ben was admitted to the hospital with RSV. I'm super thankful my in-laws were willing to extend their recent visit so we could go.
Black and gold felt right for this spread...Vegas is all about glitz, right? I've had this oversized alphabet forever (sorry, no idea where it's from) and decided to add it to a printed vellum sheet and slip it in a 6x12 page protector. The "adventure" 3x4 card is Push Print Studio. I read a fantastic tip a while back about printing black journal cards on your photo printer. I've always hated the faded look of black printed from desktop printers. This is a great fix if you're looking for that kind of saturation and depth from your black and dark color printing.
I used Ali Edwards' craft dies on gold glitter paper to embellish a few of the photos with the appropriate day of the week. We saw Jim Gaffigan at Caesars and I swear I almost peed my pants. He did a bit about Hot Pockets that was amazing, hence Hot Pockets in Studio Calico letter stickers on the side of the photo. The middle right insert is vellum stamped with "down time" from Kellie's Love Your Body set. On top of the vellum, I stapled two 2x2 photos from different outings throughout the trip. The bottom left insert is the key card holder we were given when we checked in, stamped with the dates of the trip. The bottom right is one photo, cut to two 3x4 inserts. I used the craft die again, as well as some journaling on vellum stamped with "#worthit" from Kellie's Like A Girl set.
The top left insert on this page is another stamped sheet of vellum, this time "don't judge me" in white ink. That one is from Kellie's Nuts About Food set. I love this insert. I am not a gambler. Far from it. But, I love me some Jacks or Better. And I'm damn good. So here's a snapshot of my straight and straight flush hands. Woot. I thought "don't judge me" was a perfect fit for a card about my preference for the slots. Next is a shot from the Sports Book at the Cosmopolitan, embellished with another day of the week craft die and a quick note on vellum. "The best" is Push Print Studio. The middle row is shots of a few of our fantastic meals. Loved using Kellie's Good Food set. The vertical orientation of these particular stamps was a theme I used throughout this spread. Next to each stamp is the restaurant and location of the pictured meal. Then I used another old alpha (similar) to spell nom across these shots. Bottom left "a.m. p.m." is another Push Print Studio. Bottom right is a map of the strip I ripped out of the 24/7 taxi cab guide, cut in two with a gold star to mark our hotel
I didn't take an abundance of photos this trip. We just wanted to try and enjoy each other. Side note...we take horrendous selfies. That one was the best of the bunch.
